Today is the day we head off to Taro the elephant park we waited tor the Bali Adventure tours bus which came on time at 9 am we got on board with another family from the same hotel> and headed off thruogh the country side with 2 exicted kids and an exicted wife we were all lookinf forward to having a ride on the elephants. We arrived at about 10:30 after a great drive through some of the best county i have ever seen rice paddys little villages mad men on their so called moter bikes i call them pretened bikes or scooters those guys are all nuts i ride here in oz and i would even try to ride there YET! but back to the storey.
We went straight in and had a look around before being taken to the ride area were we hopped on board it felt funny standing on their backs to hop on but they assured us they couldnt feel it i had the little man 16 mth and kylie took monica 4yr old i got on and the Mahout passed my son to me he wasnt sure what to make of it.
Then we were off and i must say its pretty hard to sit on an elephant whilst holding a toddler but i didnt drop him.We stopped for a few photos of the family and were soon wandering through the jungle.Stopping for a few more pics and we ran out of film so i tried to change it on the run>that was pretty hard on a moving elephant even harder holding the little man. He soon put hi finger through the shutter in the back of the cam so that stopped our pic taking for a while. The ride was meant to go for 30 mins but we got 50 so none of us were complaining. Our elephant stopped for a coconut along the way he just reached up ripped it off the tree very gantly placed it on the ground and stood on it until it cracked. He put it in his mouth and crunched around a bit then spat out the husk and shell with not a sign of the flesh in side to see at all very clever so i thought.the ride winds through the bush and the feed plantations as they try to grow as much food as possible to save costs.Kylie spent the rest of the ride trying to bribe the mahout to go around again but he wouldnt. We got to the end and went for a swim in their pool on there backs. When we finished we all had a chance to feed the baby ones very cute.I spent the next 15 mins fixing the cam and was rapt when i re set the shutter 6,000 grand worth and broken on the 4 day of a 16 day trip!
Got it working and took some great shots of the family feed the babys.
Next stop was the elephant painting they are very talanted and they sell them for $150 us. didnt get one.
We went and saw the elephant show and learnt a lot about the elephants and the park they started with 7 and now have 29 all rescued from logging. At the end of the show they told people on the left to put away there cams and vid cams i soon found out why.The elephants sucked up water and i got the whole lot in my face lucky i put the cam away. The rest of the people got a second spraying but not the full lot.Off to lunch that was included in the price and it was great ate heaps. Then off for a wander through the gift shop and back up to the display which was great to read all about the history.
Back on the bus at 2 ish and back to the hotel it gets pretty painful holding a 16 mth on your lap for 1 1/2 hours because he wouldnt sit only stand ( no baby seats) and jumped around every time he saw a dog and there were a lot got quite painful after the end of the trip. Very sore in the neather regions.
Bact to the hotel for a swim and a sleep for the little man before dinner and a few pain killing Bintangs for me.
We headed back to the Bali Brasil warung again for dinner and an early night for all.
Day 5 was spent getting crissy presies for the kids and taking it in turns to look after them while the other one sneaked out and shopped.
we got some great stuff from around the stalls and also Mataharies.
Then i had to sneak out to get some presents for my wife that wasnt hard as i just remembered the stuff she pointed out and went back and brought them.Mostly shorts and nik- nacs clothes and sandels. After a few more bintangs it was off to bed ready for a big day at Waterbom.
Thanks for reading these PT5 coming soon
Regards Bruce
