Komang doesn't have a car, but he has a motorbike. Emiko and I went to Tenganan from CD on the back of his and his mate's bikes. "Hati hati, pelan pelan". On the way back, their sharp eyes spotted the police road block up ahead. The cops were pulling people over for not wearing helmets. We ducked into a shop carpark and narrowly avoided the traditional Balinese donation ceremony.
If you choose to go in from Padang Bai that way, I'd suggest you wear helmets. I've seen a big police operation on the Padang Bai/Candi Dasa road, but on that occasion I was wearing a helmet. I've no idea what a fair price would be. I think he may be happy to take people for free on the expectation that they will buy some double ikat from his mother. Not cheap, but very special. My purchase is a feature of my lounge. Komang is a nice guy and a good guide. I'd say it's certainly an advantage to go to Tenganan with a man of the village rather than try to contend with assorted unknown vendors when you get there.
I have Nick's business card and it does not show an email address. He operates from Puri Oka Cottages in CD and I haven't an email address for them either.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
