I've just read your post below about money changing.
The Kodak shops that everyone talks about are actually a chain called "PT Central Kuta' moneychangers. They (as opposed to just about every other money changer) are reputable, & safe to use. Locals often choose to use them over the smaller ones, because who needs the hassle?
If you take money, take $100 bills, as near to new as possible. Every reputable hotel etc will have a safe for you to put your valueables etc into. People have strong opinions over whether money or cards etc are best. Both are right, it's just what suits you. I take cash, with the CC for emergency only backup- luckily I've never needed to use it yet!
