The money belt is a great tip, I would also suggest if you are not comfortable with that a bum bag (not pretty but functional). We have one each, large enough to hold a mans wallet(easier to get at strange money than a purse), passport and camera. One with an opening on the rear of the bag is great, important docs like passport etc can be placed in there and loose fingers find it more difficult to get at. The other thing we don't leave home without is (daggy I know) our zip off pants. That way you have shorts, 3/4's and long pants depending on the weather. Pack your pack and then cut it in half and if your like me, half again. Roll everything, it tends to fit better and isn't as crushed when you get there. All we take to Bali when we go is clothing for 1 day, underwear, swimmers and a towel (travel towel that is, like a car shammy). The rest we buy as we need it!!
Don't miss Lennox Heads (near Byron Bay) in Australia and pancake rocks on the west coast of the south island of NZ.
